A Path Better Taken
There comes seminal times in your life, also know as forks in the road, at which point you have the opportunity to make a decision that will lead you down the road to a fulfilling life, or down the path to death and destruction.
Granted those are 180 degrees apart and there is much ground in between with multiple mini paths that you can take and often do which wind all around through life. But the end result is you are on a journey regardless which fork you take and which mini path you step off onto.
There is no better example than a California man who had his career on course, family situation was wonderful and had friends by the buckets full. He'd just finished up a very successful youth baseball and football career. As it became clear near this time, that he always put himself last. During all those activities he even took time and as served President of a local Lion's Service Club.
That is where he got into trouble. He was so involved in helping others and his career, he didn't take care of himself physically. Bad diet, eating on the run all the time, getting little rest at night and working 12 to 15 ...
... hours a day.
He was told to take it easier, but being so driven and feeling invincible, it took his heart to slow him down. It damn near stopped him in his tracks. In fact his heart gave out and sent him a message that it was just about to take a vacation.
That was March 2002 on a sunny Friday afternoon. He never worked again. He did start a slow journey toward death. And eventually arrived at the point of no return.
This is where our story stops. Because there are many of you out there reading this right now that are in the same boat or heading toward that waterfall in a similar boat. But you have time to turn the boat around if you are smart. But you have to step back and restart and reformulate your approach to life. But there is no time to waste. In fact a friend of ours didn't heed this warning and one Saturday while riding his horse around in the corral, he just slumped over and died in the saddle.
Ok, what happened to our California man. Well, I promised not to steal his thunder. You can find out the whole story here
