Scholarships – A Long Way To Go In

With higher education becoming an expensive affair, many deserving students have to shy away from pursuing their higher education. Though the student loans help to cover the cost of tuition fee, the repayment of loan after their studies will incur a much higher cost which is often not very attractive. However the scholarships offered by the government or the private foundations are highly encouraging for these deserving students to pursue their higher education.
Scholarships are awarded to students who are in need of financial aid, depending upon the student’s merit. Most of the scholarships are given based on merit and outstanding performance of students in academics, sports, co-curricular activities and some depending upon their financial need. The eligibility criteria and conditions for scholarships may vary from college to college.

One of the great visions of the Indian government is the Right to Education. In tandem with this aspiration, MGI is a making a humble contribution to the society by awarding scholarships to deserving candidates with excellence in academics and sports. Though the scholarship is only for eligible candidates, it is on first come first serve basis. The scholarship is in the form of financial benefit in the tuition fee for Post Graduate Diploma in Management which is evenly spread over the two years. The total scholarships awarded will be:
75% scholarship: 1
50% scholarship: 2
25% scholarship: 7
10% scholarship: 10
The scholarship awarded is based on the academic excellence. Students are eligible if they have achieved:
75% marks in English in 10+2 is mandatory
65% overall marks in graduation is mandatory
Special Scholarships of 5% available for wards of Defense officials who do not qualify for other scholarship categories
Performance in GD and PI held only for admissions in 2012 will be considered
The scheme awards scholarships to students based on their performances in MAT or CAT
MAT Percentile - CAT Percentile - Scholarship
Above 95% - Above 90% - 75%
Above 90% - Above 85% - 50%
Above 85% - Above 80% - 25%
Above 80% - Above 75% - 10%
Students with excellence in sports which is recognized by the Sports Authority of India are eligible for scholarship if they have
Represented State in National Event: 5% relaxation in cut-off and 25% scholarship
Represented Country in International Event: 10% relaxation in cut-off and 50% scholarship
