After-school Programs And Playgrounds For Kids
Most families today have a home with two working parents. This means that most children need a constructive place to stay until parents are able to get them. If you are a parent today, you know how stressful this can be. You want to know that your children are safe, yet in a constructive, learning environment. There are a number of options, like after-school programs, sports, and day-care, depending on your child’s age. As long as there is supervision, you may want to base your options on things that your child would enjoy.
Many schools will have after-school programs. This usually means that your child can stay right on campus. This can be helpful if both parents are at work and unable to shuttle kids from school to an after-school function. Ask the school your child attends what type of program they have. Sometimes it can be simple outdoor games and exercise. These programs are usually supervised by an after-school aid who organizes team sports and other outdoor activities. Some schools offer indoor time where kids can work on their homework or take part in activities such as painting or reading. Every school will ...
... offer something different.
If your child has transportation, after-school sports with a neighborhood or community league can be another option. Many after-school sports programs will have practice during late afternoon and games in the early evening. Community centers usually offer youth leagues in soccer, baseball, and basketball. You may even be able to get your child interesting in swimming. Many public swimming pools will offer after-school classes. If your child loves to be athletic and play sports, this can be a wonderful option. For transportation, consider using a buddy system with other parents.
If you work only an hour or two later than your child gets off school, many schools will allow children to stay on the school playground with supervision. Many children stay around after class hours waiting to be picked up. A commercial outdoor playground will allow children to play with teacher supervision until parents are available to pick them up. Although this may not seem like a way for your child to do something constructive, it gives them a chance to have some fun and be with their friends after a long day on campus.
For more help on finding the perfect after-school program with a playground for preschools, ask for guidance from a school counselor or community center. Professionals will be able to tell you what is offered and what might be best suited for your child.
