You might be wondering if there is a connection between family trees, time of day, and heart rhythm disorders. Well, there is. Recent news on heart problems state that family trees can help determine the risk of inherited cardiovascular disease. Additionally, there is also a research that state that the time of day can heighten the possibility of dying due to an irregular heartbeat followed by a sudden cardiac arrest.

Irregular Heart Rhythm and Family Trees

A study published in the journal, Circulation: Cardiovacular Genetics, take us back to history as far as 1811, wherein Dutch researchers were able to approximate the chance of a person to die due to a hereditary heart disorder.

The risk of sudden cardiac death is seen to be higher among people who already have a related heart disease in their blood. However, cardiac disorders may also occur among healthy people and the primary reason could be the irregularities in their heart beat.

By reconstructing family trees and conducting genetic testing among the relatives of patients with a heart ...
... disorder, it is not only the risk factor that is assessed but also the possible treatment plan that can be developed specially for people who does not have any symptoms yet.

The results of this study were obtained by comparing statistics in 266 people who had the mutation in a gene connected with arrhythmia, 904 family members with a 50 percent possibility of containing the mutation, and the rest of the population.

Irregular Heartbeat and Time of Day

As we all know, sudden cardiac arrest can occur at any time of day. Researchers now state that the possibility of dying due to an irregular heartbeat may be determined by the fact that it is morning or evening. According to the findings, sudden cardiac deaths are recorded to occur in the morning and such cases continue to gain number in the evening.

Actually, it is the body’s mechanism throughout the day that is seen to be responsible for such occurrence. From the journal Nature, it was said that there is a protein that have a power over the heart and the levels of this protein is said to rise and fall the whole time. Aside from this protein, a disturbance in the body’s circadian rhythm or daily routine that maintains it in tune with the surroundings can also have an effect on the activities of the heart, and on the person’s health as a whole.

There is a long list of heart rhythm disorders but the usual symptoms seem to be general for all. If you are feeling palpitations, a sort of pulsation or throbbing in the chest, an impression that your heart beat is racing or speeding up, and if there is already unexplainable chest pain, then maybe it is time to seek medical help. See a doctor and get an advice on what medical screenings do you have to take to know your condition, what preventive measures can you do, or what treatment options are available so that you can avoid sudden cardiac arrest or worst, sudden cardiac deaths.
