Having the proper spare parts is not always very convenient, but there are some items that your car should not do without. How many times didn't you need, for example, an air compressor to inflate a flat tire?

Or how many times you were in a hurry and you forgot your car's headlights on and when you returned to your car you noticed that your battery is dead? Let's face it, problems like these can happen to anybody, but fortunately, solving them is fairly easy. All you need is a portable air compressor and a portable battery charger.

While some thirty years ago battery chargers were large devices that required an always-on power supply, you can find nowadays portable battery chargers the size of a small suitcase.

It is a very convenient way to help your dead battery start you car if you ever need to. All you have to do is to power on the device, attach the clams to your car's battery and voila, you can now start your engine.

Do not worry if you do not posses a lot of technical knowledge. The portable battery chargers you can buy in any specialized auto parts shop or in large supermarkets include ...
... all the necessary equipment (the long cables to connect the device to your car) and all the necessary instructions.

The battery charger's manufacturer includes a very detailed, graphical representation of all the steps you need to do in order to start the battery charger, connect it to your car's battery and charge it.

The prices for a very efficient battery charger are not scary, as a fairly good one will cost around $100 or even less, depending on its power and included features. Because a battery charger is very compact, you can find a place for it in the trunk of any car.

So why risk being stranded in a foreign city asking for help from strangers, when you can always have a battery charger at your disposal?

Another important item you should always carry with you is a portable air compressor. A portable air compressor is able to inflate a tire from zero in under two minutes and it does wonders if you ever need to inflate one or more of your car tires.

It is not mandatory to have a flat to need such a portable air compressor. Traveling for many hours at a row without stopping can heat your tires very much and if the rubber in your tire is old or worn out, it may start to loose air.

Driving with a flat tire is very dangerous, as you will loose braking capabilities as well overall car stability and handling. You will notice that one of your tires is running low on air if the car does not have a straight trajectory. These things can happen to anyone, anywhere. In addition, if you happen to get a flat tire in the middle of a country road and you do not have a spare with you, you are stranded until someone with an air compressor comes to your rescue.

Portable air compressors are very cheap (you can even buy one for less than $30 if you look in the right place) and they are very compact (most of them are the size of a bread) so keeping one in your trunk is no big deal.
