A park or playground is a great location to take your child for exercise and fun. Unfortunately, many kids are now staying inside to view TV or play video games. This is creating kids who have no social or emotional skills. A park or playground can create physical, emotional, and cognitive skills. A playground or park can help their physical health and a whole lot more.

A park is a good place where a child can get fit and breathe some fresh air. At most local parks, you will find gym play sets. Your child will have the opportunity to not only socialize with other children of different ages but also get in a good day of exercise. Most play sets provide them with abilities to go back and forth across monkey bars, run up and down steps so that they can use the slide, or climb up ropes and walls. This is great for keeping their heart rates up for optimal health.

You can also set up games if your neighborhood park does not have a commercial playground. Not all playgrounds have play sets for your children. If this is the case at your community ...
... park, you can be creative with activity games. Use soccer balls or jump ropes and come up with games for your child and their friends. Set up tag or dodgeball games which are exciting ways to get in some exercise. You can even join in and spend some time exercising yourself.

Even though this all seems like a great way for your children to get out and exercise, there are some safety precautions that you will want to take. Your local school playground is not supervised by professionals, which means you will have to do the watching. It is very common for younger children to suffer from playground related injuries. It is common for them to take a misstep and fall. It is not unusual for gymnasium sets to have too many people on them. They can become really dangerous when they are over-crowded. Have good judgment about whether or not you should allow your child on a play set that is already crowded. It is wise to keep a first-aid kit handy and know some standard first-aid.

It is more critical than ever that you take some interest in your child’s exercise program. It is becoming too easy for exhausted parents to just allow their kids to stay indoors watching TV or playing video games every day. They can really benefit from an outdoor challenge.
