There are several reasons why people are once again getting their domestic appliances repaired rather than throwing them away and buying new ones. The biggest reason is economics for many homeowners cash is tight, so if they can get their domestic appliances repaired for less than it would cost to buy a new appliance they are doing so. In some cases the cost of repair is too great and the homeowner has to buy a new appliance, but more people are taking the time to find out whether this is in fact the case.

Some domestic appliance manufacturers are promoting the repair of their appliances rather than the scraping of them. This seems to some to be counter intuitive, but companies who help consumers to keep their existing appliances in good working order are experiencing growth in their customer base. Customers appreciate the additional support they get from these manufacturers. This helps them to stay loyal and buy other products from them in the future. They also share their positive experience with their friends and family creating new customers for those manufacturers who go the extra mile and help them to get their appliances repaired.

Domestic appliance repair makes sense on many levels for both the customer and the manufacturer. An appliance that lasts is what the consumer wants and by providing what the customer wants the makers of appliances benefit from lifelong loyalty from that customer.
