Anti-static packaging is manufactured using materials that do not conduct electrical charges at all, and will therefore block the static energy as the charge is neutralized. All electronic components, and the units in which they are housed, should be fully encased within anti-static packaging. It will ensure not only that no charges can reach the components, but also that there is no chance for a charge to build up within the packaging itself during shipping.
Finally, keep in mind that when it comes to retail products, a damaged electronic component may never be pinpointed as the source of defection. It will therefore make it easier both for the retailer and the manufacturer to ensure that every potential problem is neutralized though proper precautions in order to guarantee quality goods, and anti-static packaging is an important step in the process.
