If you were to define good schools for interior design, how would you do so? As it involves so many personal opinions and preferences, it is very difficult to arrive at a single definition. Each interior design student has very different opinions when it comes to the ideal school, so for each student, the best school for interior design would be that which matches the student’s individual needs most closely.

What’s important in a good school for interior design? Most important is of course the interior design program and academic courses – the faculty who will be instructing those classes is also crucial. Looking at alternative course offerings in other disciplines such as graphic design will also be helpful for any prospective interior design student. The services and facilities for interior design that the school offers for students are also very important as they demonstrate the school’s willingness to invest in their interior design program. Researching the alumni of the school for interior design and looking for well-known interior designers is another way to decide on a good school for interior design.

Also ...
... important to a good school for interior design are non-academic aspects. A student will be spending much of the time in the areas around the school. As such, the school’s location and surrounding town are very important considerations: Is the school located in a city or primarily rural area? Is the campus life lively? How easy is it to get around using public transportation? These factors should all be examined when choosing a school.

Financial considerations are also key aspects to think about. How high is the tuition for interior design courses? Did the school offer any scholarships, grants, or other financing options? And, a student should be thinking of career opportunities and prospects within the interior design industry, and consider whether the school for interior design will provide support in finding internships and job placements.

Ultimately, the choice is entirely up to the student, so choose carefully!
