Teeth whitening is by far the most popular of all of the cosmetic dental procedures that are performed each year. It has been reported that since the 1960s, the number of people who avail of this cosmetic dental procedure has increased by over three hundred percent. A lot of people have the procedure performed at their dental clinics and there are even more people who perform the procedure with commercial products designed to bleach teeth. Some people even make their own homemade versions of cleansers to bleach the stains from their teeth.
The majority of all of the teeth whitening products that are commercially produced contain ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide, (hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent), glycerin, carbopol, sodium hydroxide, silica compounds, dicalcium phosphates, mixed with flavoring compounds to make the substance less offensive to the taste buds. Some of these products also contain aluminum oxide and hydrated aluminum, along with calcium carbonate.
Any expert you speak to will recommend that you see a dentist for teeth whitening procedures. These same experts will tell you if they ...
... had to choose one ingredient that was the most effective for this purpose it would be the hydrogen peroxide. When the dentist performs a procedure of this nature they usually apply a solution of hydrogen peroxide that contains fifteen percent hydrogen peroxide up to as much as thirty five percent hydrogen peroxide depending on the severity of the discoloration.
To start with the dentist will mix car amide peroxide with water. This substance breaks down creating hydrogen peroxide and urea. While it has been determined that a solution of car amide peroxide diluted with ninety percent water is not dangerous to humans the mixture can cause some irritation of the gums and may cause the patient to experience sensitivity to the teeth. This sensitivity usually dissipates after the initial treatment.
Other alternatives that many people opt for are to buy hydrogen peroxide powder and create their own solutions for performing teeth whitening or they purchase over the counter products that have been developed to do the job. The over the counter products have been tested for safety and they often contain flavoring agents such as spearmint to make the mixture more tolerable. These kits, gels, and strips are sold at the majority of merchants that carry other dental care products. You can even purchase some of the products from online sources.
Many of the popular toothpastes that are sold in stores today contain ingredients that are supposed to help bleach the stains from teeth. These ingredients also include hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and other enzymes that are designed to remove stains or make them appear lighter in color. The toothpastes can remove the surface stains and discoloration but they cannot provide a deep bleaching effect like the products designed with this purpose in mind.
Today is it easier than ever for everyone to have whiter teeth and brighter smiles with the use of the affordable products that are easily available and safe and easy to use too.
