Top Beyer Speed Figures Scored By The Year 2011's Two Year Old Debutants

The much acclaimed rivalry for the top horse of the year in progress, astonishingly between Hansen and Union Rags, would now be a questionable argument as Discreet Dancer goes ahead scoring a three digit Beyer Speed Figure in his maiden break at GulfStream Park. The only other three digit speed figure for the season has been bagged by Overdriven, astonishingly again, trained by Pletcher and reinforcing the Repole Stable reputation.

The season wraps down its top two year old speeds with a Creative Cause at 98, and the best from Secret Circle at 97. Filly My Miss Aurelia is the only next fastest filly after Stopshoppingmaria at 96. Breeder’s Cup Juvenile winner, Hansen’s fastest speed rates a top 94 while the second place finisher Union Rags followed on at 95.

It’s highly disappointing how the fastest speeds for the season never cross the first half of a tenth above hundred. While majority dangles at a maximum of late 90’s, the remaining have exhibited yet slower paces on the racing tracks, a field the horses from the earlier century or the last decade would probably annihilate with a humble gallop.

Despite a number of factors posed as possible reasons to the cause, such as the synthetic surfaces, a bad foal or even the pedigree, there are insufficient explanations for the depreciating Beyer Speed Figures. However, there is one place, immune to such a fall.
