Some pet parents are so stubborn that they don’t understand a prolonged medical treatment of their dying strays is futile. Pets like cats and dogs are way more susceptible to various diseases than humans due to their habitation, tendency to lick everything and food habit. These animals live up to 20 years at the max and are found disease-ridden in the final years. Hardheaded owners want to run medical procedures even though the pet won’t last for long. These medical procedures are often expensive and on top of that, they aren’t going to help the ailing animal either way. These are actually times when pet euthanasia is needed.

A time where rights for human and animal are so widely discussed, almost everyone is familiar with the significance of euthanasia. There are terminally ill people, for whom euthanasia is the only option. Similarly when a pet is inflicted by an incurable disease, ending its life is the only way out, otherwise, the misery of the pet will continue. But how to end the ducky’s life? Should the parent load up a gun to put bullets on the pet’s head? No, it sounds too filmy. Okay, then should he ...
... mix poison into the pet’s food? That’ll cause the pet to suffer, which its owner definitely doesn’t want it to. What’ll be the solution then? The very first thing that the pet owner needs to keep in mind is, DIY attitude isn’t going to work here and they need help of a veterinarian.

It’s best if the pet owner makes contact with a mobile veterinary service. By doing so, they can have everything organized at home. The mobile vet will schedule a time for going over to the pet owner’s house. On the planned day, the vet will arrive at the house with tranquilizer, euthanasia drugs and equipments to inject it. Pet owners need to cooperate with the doctor and licensed veterinary technicians so that the process goes on smoothly. However, the pet owner needs to keep vigil eye open to make sure that the pet is not getting any pain. Some vets stay so busy that they want to be done with the process as soon as possible. Due to this, they make uses of some drugs that aren’t approved by the Humane Society of United Sates (HSUS). Approved euthanasia barbiturates are Sodium Pentobarbital and Carbon Monoxide. They are used by vets for putting the pet to sleep. The process also must be handled in HSUS prescribed way. As per the guidelines, involvement of two people is necessary; one person for soothing the pet and another person for handling the medical courses.

Experienced vets initiate the process only when the pet is calm. It is pet parent’s duty to look into this. They shouldn’t do anything, which will disturb the pet. Instead, for ensuring a trouble free pet euthanasia, they should help the LVT to relax the pet, so that narcotics followed by intravenous injection to insert the drug can be applied.

I’m an animal activist, love writing on animal rights and pet care. Mobile vet clinics, in my view treat pets with more care and I have been referring to mobile veterinary service, the role of a mobile vet clinic, medication suggested by them in my articles.
