However, the pet owner needs to keep vigil eye open to make sure that the pet is not getting any pain. Some vets stay so busy that they want to be done with the process as soon as possible. Due to this, they make uses of some drugs that aren’t approved by the Humane Society of United Sates (HSUS). Approved euthanasia barbiturates are Sodium Pentobarbital and Carbon Monoxide. They are used by vets for putting the pet to sleep. The process also must be handled in HSUS prescribed way. As per the guidelines, involvement of two people is necessary; one person for soothing the pet and another person for handling the medical courses.

Experienced vets initiate the process only when the pet is calm. It is pet parent’s duty to look into this. They shouldn’t do anything, which will disturb the pet. Instead, for ensuring a trouble free pet euthanasia, they should help the LVT to relax the pet, so that narcotics followed by intravenous injection to insert the drug can be applied.
