How To Single Out Your Camping Sites
A lot of people enjoy camping. Many of us are wondering what to do this summer now that the weather is getting warmer.
Camping is a popular activity, and a lot of persons like to locate the best camping sites as early as possible in the season. It's important to ask a few questions when calling a place to book a site, as not all of these camping grounds are suitable, and every site will have something different to offer. Some sites are just plain bad, and it is always good to stay away from those. I know because I learned all to well and I also learned it the hard way.
My husband's music group had a festival that they played every year, and they provide us with free camping sites so that we did not have to drive back and forth if we chose not to. This was good, but the campingsites they chose for us were not always great. In fact, I am pretty sure that sometimes they had reserved for us the worst sites on the camping ground. If we had been camping in a camper it might have been okay. However, we were in tents, and there was no shade anywhere near our site. This meant that we were roasted out of our tent by eight ...
... in the morning. No chance for me there to get some sleep.
The following year, we asked for different locations, but they were not much better. More questions should have been asked. Questions like how much shade may or may not be there, and if there are any extras that might end up being very important. Some sites have electricity and running water (great for coffee!), and these are wonderful, but they don't all necessary have this. You have to find out before you accept the site they are offering to you, if that is something you insist on having.
Booking for the right time is as important as getting the right site. Popular weekends will book fast, so you might not be able to get what you want, or you may end up reserving one of the really awful camping sites. It's similar to airline tickets at popular times of the year. If you know you are going, and you know when, book your camping sites as early as possible and remember to ask all the right questions. If you don't have to, you don't have to end up roasting in the sun or do without water, and it's fun not to have to worry about not finding a good spot at all.
