“Riots are the voices of the unheard”. It is an unorganized civil disorder and disobedience that is usually characterized by violence and physical disturbance, added by damage and destruction of private and public property such as, stores being robbed, houses looted, cars overturned, piles of trash set on fire, and personal injury. This offense may be done towards the rioters, passerby, or police and military those are involved in the riot. In a nutshell, the term ‘rioting’ can also be explained as mob rule or mass rule by the fist.

Over the centuries some forms of rioting against established authorities and orders have taken place all throughout the world. Historically, riots have occurred due to underprivileged working or living conditions, corrupt government, oppression, taxation, conflicts between ethnic groups, religions, or frustration with legal channels which take the shape of grievances. However, there are even sub-categories of riots, which are distinguished on the basis of reasons and nature. Some examples are police riots, where the police themselves get undisciplined and religious riots, which happen ...
... due to intolerance and disrespect among people on religious ground. Other types of rioting include student and urban riots, and even sports riots.

The Recent Egyptian Riot

The single most worst rioting story of 2011 is the Egyptian riots. The spark that gave air to the flames of revolution was the Tunisian rebellion that results in the overthrow of the Tunisian president. Protesters in Cairo marched in the streets rioting in the Tahir Square. All throughout the Arab countries there were common problems- lack of jobs, price inflation, poor wages, lack of free elections, and the overall corruption of government and its regulatory systems.

The critics have referred to the Egyptian riots as a repeat of the European Revolutions of 1848, which was popularly known as the Spring of Nations or the Year of Revolution. Likewise, the demands made then are likely the same made during the Arab uprisings; more participation in the political progressions, dissatisfaction with political corruption and wealth distribution among the working classes, and overall class and society warfare between the aristocracy, royalty, and the poor.

Recently there has evolved a new breed of revolutionary who has grown up using cell phones, computers, and has access to Internet or global social networking communication tools. Through the social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter or MySpace, people today have instant access to news and information sources in real time. The Egyptian authorities even tried to ban on the Internet access in Egypt, but with limited success. Consequently, there were some 846 people killed and 700 injured, during the Egyptian riots.
