Love Me Some Kickboxing
Today's article is about one of my FAVORITE workout modalities ever...kickboxing. I think the main reason I love it so much is that there is a sense of empowerment and strength embodied by the workout. Not to mention there are so many different styles so it can appeal to almost anyone. The way I like to teach kickboxing is through a high intense, fun, and simply choreagraphed routine that gets your body sweatin' and movin' like no other!!
Kickboxing is a remarkable way to exercise and keep your body toned. In addition, it can serve as your self-defense in the event that you get into a perilous situation. Kickboxing is one of the more famous martial arts that require stamina, strength, speed and technique. It is often interchanged with Muay Thai as both have almost the same components. There are three basic techniques that the beginners must learn in order to improve on it. You excited to learn your first lesson here?
Here are your 3 basic factors to keep in mind while kickboxing:
Breathing and appropriate stance -breathing is important not only in kickboxing but in other sports as well. You can put more ...
... strength in your blows if you know how to breathe properly. If you are tensed, your blood will not flow properly and you would not be able to move well. In addition is the kickboxing stance. It's always guard up, legs grounded in softly bent position, and abdominals contracted. It will grant you ease in throwing punches and kicks. It will help you with the right positioning of your arms and legs so you can reach farther. You would not be able to kick at its full length if your legs are too far apart. Make sure that your toes, knees and hips always align and that your arms and fists are close to your chest and face for protection purposes.
Punching -this technique is vital in kickboxing as it is the weapon that you would use for the offense. You cannot just throw punches to your opponent aimlessly. It must be strong, fast and most of all, accurate. It does not stop after you throw it as you would be left vulnerable at that moment. Withdraw your punching hand as soon as possible and keep your chin safe from the counterattack through shielding it by your left or right shoulder if you are right or left-handed respectively. Furthermore, you have to keep in mind that shifting your body weight after throwing punches is also important.
Kicking -as the name suggests, kickboxing necessitates this technique. Make sure that you do some stretching and cooling down after you practice the martial arts so as not to strain your muscles. They are most likely to be pulled during the course. The power of the kicks depends on the speed of the twisting of your body. There are many different types of kick, each with varying techniques. Footwork is also important as it will help you keep a good balance. The key is to always stay light on the toes and to never overextend your knees during a kick. Focus on point of contact, depending on which kick you decide to perform.
These are just three basic techniques in kickboxing. Now I know I haven't given you too much detail on the types of punches and kicks but hopefully this gives you an overview on what involved in this particular martial art!
