Many people are finding that a spa is the single best place to visit – they find they are incredibly enjoyable and that they’re great for relaxing, but there’s a couple of things that you need to pay attention to, to make the most or your treatments and the visit that you’re there for.

Remember your swimming costume – many spas have rooms where you would require swimming costumes/trunks/a bikini, so remember one when you go to visit – or you may not be able to use the whole facilities. If you need specific clothes, such as underwear for your treatment, then you should bring them too. Most spas will offer instructions before you arrive.

Remember to tell them about allergies – and if you’re unsure of allergies, ensure that when you visit, that you let them know about any discomfort, especially if it’s not described. For example, there are certain face masks that might make your skin tingle, but they shouldn’t make your skin hurt – so be sure to ask before undergoing any treatments you’ve never had before.

Take any medical information they ask for – certain treatments, such as back ...
... or neck rubs, or other spa treatments that require the manipulation of your spinal column might need you to let them know if you have any problems or issues with your spine. While other treatments on skin might require information on scars or tattoos or other things that might be considered contraindicated, so it’s important to discuss that with your carer or treatment provider.

Most of all though, you should go there and enjoy yourself – spas are designed to create ultimate relaxation and give those visiting the chance to enjoy themselves, without needing to worry about the needs of your personal care for a while. Spas often have recommended treatments for those with special skin needs. They can suggest good care routines and recommend products, as well as providing an atmosphere to enjoy them, a chance to relax and most of all, a chance to just spend time spoiling themselves – which, of course is the best part of visiting a spa.

Enjoying that all important spa visit is often something people find difficult – but it’s important to do your best to do so.
