Candida is basically a species of fungi or yeast which causes an infection known as candidiasis or moniliasis. This microscopic fungus or yeast is normally found in the intestine, skin and mouth. Some of the major symptoms are itching, redness, swelling and discomfort in the affected area of the body. These symptoms can be basically seen in the areas like the penis, vagina, esophagus, gastrointestinal tract, urinary bladder and mucosal membrane of the oral cavity. There are several home remedies for candida which can be tried at home with ease.

Since garlic has antifungal properties, it is one of the most effective home remedies for candida. All you have to do is eat raw garlic daily or apply fresh garlic juice to the affected area. Olive leaves have antimicrobial properties and the paste of olive leaves can be applied to the affected parts of the body.

Before taking bath add some lavender oil or flower extracts to the bath water to cure the ailment. Oregano oil can be used to naturally treat the infection caused by the candida or you can even try using highly diluted thyme oil. Apple cider vinegar is one of the most common home remedies for candida. You can apply it directly by a cotton swab on the affected area.

Apply yogurt to the infected area and leave it for an hour and then wash it off properly. This will relieve heavy itching, weeping and will cause a calming effect. You can apply barberry extract on the infected area to kill the yeast cells and cure the ailment.

In order to discourage yeast cell productions try having food rich in chlorophyll such as dark green leafy vegetables and alfalfa. Fresh fruits (low sugar like cherry and papaya), cereals like rice and millet, nuts, seeds and extra virgin olive oil should also be included in diet. Stop eating sugary foods, breads, honey, milk, alcohol, vinegar, cheese, mushrooms, rye and caffeine. These were some of the home remedies for candida which can be tried at home.
