However it was during her 12th race into the Lady’s Secret Breeder’s Cup Handicap when she finished second following an injury to her tendon. Turned over to trainer Wayne D. Lukas, a hall of Famer, Azeri made a quick recovery and made a comeback with yet another win in the Apple Blossom.
Azeri most impressive win was from the Go For Wand Handicap after a thrilling competition against multiple Graded stakes winner Sightseek. It was only towards the end of her sixth year that Azeri was retired after a 17 wins out of 24 starts status. Azeri was awarded the American Horse of the year title in 2002 followed by three consecutive years of American Champion Older Female Horse from 2002 to 2004. Six year later, Azeri got inducted into the Hall of Fame and National Museum of Racing. She also closed her racing career as the second highest money earning filly with approximately $4 million second only to Zenyatta at $6million plus.
