Pat was inducted into the Hall of fame the same year following his four years of Eclipse Awards in 1984, 1986-87 and 1991 for Outstanding Jockey and the George Woolf Memorial Award from 1985. Pat was also the US Champion Jockey for six years by his number of wins and for two years by his earnings.
However, amidst all the fame and money involved, Pat Day too had his share of tough times. This included those early years of his career when he was involved with substance abuse. He soon fought it back with religion and finally emerged victorious with such an immaculate racing career. Following a hip surgery, Pat finally called it quits for racing and declared retirement. He now resides in Louisville, Kentucky.
