Choosing A Body Shop
Experiencing an accident, no matter how severe it was, can be a trying experience. Now, on top of the stress add trying to choose the right body shop to repair your vehicle to better than it was before the accident.
No body shop is the same as the other and each has its own standards of quality. Wit auto repair, you can bet that what you pay is what you will get. You may only want to repair the vehicle to look like it was never damaged in one specific area or you may choose to have the entire vehicle redone. Either way, your budget will dictate unless it is under insurance.
You may want to begin your search by talking to friends and family who have had experiences with certain shops in your area. Find out what their general impression of the shop was to include how the employees treated them. It is vital that those individuals working in the show are supportive when trying to meet your needs. If you have a regular mechanic who does not offer body shop services, talk to them about who they recommend. Some of the time, they can help you find a good shop and the word of mouth referral will get you a better price. ...

You may want to reserve using a local dealership as a last resort as they are usually one of the most expensive places to choose. If you are using an insurance company to provide the repairs, they will have a list of their own shops they prefer you to use. If you are not picking up the tab, the dealership is the better choice. They will be able to match your paint better and provide a more experienced staff of repair specialists.
Once you are sure as to what shop will meet your body repair needs, take a few extra minutes to contact your local better Business Bureau. They will show you if any complaints have been filed with this particular business. One or two is to be expected as some people are just hard to please but any more than this is a definite signal to stay away and make another choice. Make an appointment to discuss your needs with the chosen shop manager and ask all your questions up front. Be aware of how they answer those questions. If they are vague and evading, go someplace else.
Know that every shop that deals with cars is not going to be immaculately clean. This is just the nature of the business however; there should be a respect for the tools they use and also appropriate clean up and storage of chemicals. You do not want someone working on your vehicle that is not compassionate and caring of your personal property and you can tell this by how they take care of their own.
See if it is possible to talk with some of their previous customers. They will probably give you the names of their satisfied customers naturally. If they feel this is not acceptable, see if they have photos of the before and after repairs. Have they ever received a letter of recommendation from a satisfied customer?
Finally, make sure the work is guaranteed in writing and a warranty is offered to you. This needs to be in writing so you have security that you are protected. Be in tune with your instincts and if something does not feel right, it probably is not. You want this repair experience to be as smooth as possible and the work completed to your satisfaction.
