We all dream. Some dream bigger than others. Annelise Brown’s dream turned into a thriving business. The idea behind Bling Time Accessories came as she lay in bed one night. She thought she could create jewelry that was truly interchangeable, stylish and simple – and she knew just how to do it.

A friend had taught her how to make the interchangeable watches that were growing in popularity. Annelise thought she could extend the idea – literally – into necklaces and more. Each piece would be unique, simple and beautiful on its own, but it could also be attached to another piece to create a whole different look.

Annelise knew her idea was unique (currently patent pending), but she didn’t know it would become so popular so fast. She sold out at her first craft show, coming home with extra cash and a craving to create more.

Annelise started doing more shows. “At first I was just having fun and needed to make more money, so I could keep creating,” she explained. Then it grew. She started an Etsy shop in March 2010 and launched her website, in January. They’re up to 14 shows a year now across the ...
... country and just opened two kiosks at popular malls in Sandy, UT and Des Moines, Iowa.

Annelise has also grown her product line. She’s created more than 30 different necklaces, including several base necklaces and a wide variety of necklace extensions. Echoing her personal style, some pieces are simple, yet sophisticated, while others are bolder and brighter. They’re all extremely versatile and able to be worn as a bracelet, belt or even boot bling.

Annelise has also created some stand-out, signature pieces in her interchangeable watch line. Bag bling and dangle necklaces are also popular pieces. The dangle necklaces are especially clever as they combine the interchangeable necklaces with super cute bag bling. The bag bling can hook onto any purse and each piece includes a watch face integrated into the design making it functional as well.

“I’ve really tried to capture multiple personalities – subtle and shy, but also bold and stunning. We’ve all got different sides to us and my interchangeable jewelry caters to that,” explains Annelise. That’s what sets Bling Time apart. Their pieces are beautiful individually, but you can mix them up to match your mood, outfit or special occasion. It’s this compelling, yet simple idea that’s fueling Bling Time’s success.

A total of 40 employees now help Annelise keep up with the demand so she can keep creating and spend time with her four boys and husband. “I just wanted to make jewelry and be a mom. It all kind of happened,” says Annelise. Just happened? And Andy Warhol just threw paint on a Marilyn Monroe picture.
