How To Move Your Couch
There is always a time when you have to do the hard task of moving your couch which you had been putting off for weeks or maybe months. Whether you are shifting to a new place or just redesigning your house, the hard task is always to move your furniture with the biggest piece as your couch.
Now let me tell you something here, it’s pretty easy and simple to move your couch. If you know exactly how to do it, it’s a hassle free job. It is always better to dust and clean your furniture before you move your furniture anywhere.
This article will give you a few great tips on how you can do that in a matter of a few hours.
Clear the Passage:
Prior to starting anything, the foremost thing is to make sure that the pathway through which your couch will be moved is clear from all obstacles and there are no fragile items. Another thing to keep in mind is the height and width of your couch and your ceiling, as you don’t want to damage your couch. Try using a measuring tape for estimation.
Plan It Up:
You will need a helper/partner for moving your couch, so it’s wise to sit and plan it up with him. ...
... You both need to know exactly what you have to do, so you don’t smash up the couch and yourselves. Rehearsing it up for areas in the house where you think you can flip. This is the best way to avoid mistakes.
Disassemble Your Couch:
Couches can be pretty heavy to move around, so the best way is to reduce the weight. Widen the couch-length to the bed position and beneath you can see that the mattress of the couch is tie-knotted to the frame. Once you have it disassembled, fold frame back but not the pillows and cushions.
Now there can be a possibility that the frames aren’t totally tied so it’s safe to secure it with a rope. The trick is to tie it from the middle i.e. where you sit and from the front of the couch-bed. You can also tie it from the arms of the couch which will help it from opening in the middle of your moving-exercise. If possible, remove the feet of your couch too.
Position It:
The next thing is to position the couch on its back. As the couch is all tied up and the pillows and cushions are removed it will be easier to shift while the couch is on its back.
Slide, Slide & Slide:
Yes we are now at the part of finally making your couch move to the other room or floor. Making the couch lay on its back. If you have the feet removed then it will be easier otherwise set an angle to take it out of the room. Slide and move it to the other room. Make sure you and your partner have all the steps synchronized.
If you are moving it down the stairs, you need to bend down till the cardboard of the couch rests on the staircase. The person at the extreme down side the staircase will have to make sure if the couch is not being ripped by the stairs. You both will have to walk it down the slowly and gradually measuring each and every step.
Calmly lay the couch down now. You or your partner need to guide the couch to the required position making sure it doesn’t slip. Use your hand over the head to ease back and lay it on the stairway slope. Repeat this step until your couch is completely down the stairs.
So, moving your Couch isn’t that big of a deal isn’t it. All you need is a partner and a bit of rehearsal.
