Things to Bear in mind Before Purchasing a Chandelier

Chandeliers are intended to hang in a room as an essential element of the decor. Too large and this fixture will overwhelm the space. Too little and it will appear out of place. Electric chandeliers saw the arrival of more effective light sources as in paraffin and electric incandescent lamps and reduced the functionality of the crystal chandelier. It had been propelled to a brand new standing as an ornament unto itself, even when unlit.

A chandelier can be described as fixture fixed at the ceiling with 2 or more arms bearing lights. It had first been used in medieval churches and abbeys as a way to effectively illuminate large rooms and halls. During those times, a chandelier usually took the form of the wooden cross which has spikes in order to secure it. From then on, chandeliers took on more elaborate forms. It was not only used for illumination reasons, it took on ornamental and aesthetic functions. It is therefore not remarkable that chandeliers are located in castles and residences of the affluent. Chandeliers finally became a symbol of wealth.

To ...
... ensure your chandelier would be the accurate size for the room in which it will eventually hang, consider the next questions:

How high is your ceiling? Taller ceilings demand larger fixtures.

What would be the size and shape of the table or island? The chandelier ought to complement, not overpower, anything you intend to suspend it over.

How big is the room you are trying to light up? Again, ensure the chandelier will not be too big or too tiny for the room.

What is the form and design of the chandelier? Light, airy fixtures are inclined to seem larger.

To determine the appropriate size chandelier for your foyer add the dimensions together: For instance if the foyer is 12’ by 16’, add the 12 plus 16 to get 28. The proper size chandelier would then be 28” diameter. This works for any room. Make sure the bottom of the fixture does not hang more than 7’ from the floor. If windows are present, centre the fixture in the window so it may be seen from outside.

Placing a chandelier that is too small in an area is likely the biggest mistake as it's very noticeable. The correct fixture in your foyer will produce a welcoming atmosphere while providing you with the general light you require to greet guests and assure a secure entrance into your home.

We at CircaLighting are looking forward to the chandelier's continued reinterpretation as a matchless element in interior decoration. Artisans today have not stopped pushing themselves. Their goal to achieve perfection had surely made chandeliers a truly one of a kind art work.
