Summer Tyres And Winter Tyres: Advantages And Disadvantages
People who live in harsh climatic zones need to keep in store different genre of tyre, to drive their cars and other vehicles. The summer season needs efficient and durable summer tyres and during winter the winter tyres replaces it to drive the car against snow and other harsh climatic conditions. However, there are some basic differences between these two types of tyre. Let us elaborate the differences in detail.
History of tyre
As early as the 15th century, a wooden wheel having a flat iron ring attached to it meant tyre. About in the year 1839, Charles Goodyear, discovered vulcanized rubber. After that several chemical research was going on to modernize and improve the tyres. After several stages of technical research and improvisation, specific tyres for specific weather conditions stormed the market and as a result the summer tyres and winter tyres was born. The tyres made for summer season are extremely durable. They are mainly made from soft rubber, which helps to have a strong grip of the ground and helps to take sharp turns on hot and dry roads. ...
... Due to high durability, these tyres deliver high performance and complete customer satisfaction during summer. On the other hand, the winter tyres are made to withstand much lower temperature about below 5 degree Fahrenheit. They contain a special compound and as a result hold a stronger grip to the ground. They are usually thick and are made of silica-based compound, which not only helps to deliver a good grip but also keeps the treads free of snow and slush. There are also some special tyres for winters with studs embedded in them. They are very useful for areas, which experience a lot of snowfall in the season.
Two types of tyres
Besides the above two types, there are also all season tyres for every season. These tyres provides performances both in summer an winter, which means you need not to have two separate types for two separate type of seasons. However, beside these advantages, these tyres are not so durable and they will only provide limited performance. There are also some disadvantages of summer and winter tyre as well. Besides being a high performer, the summer tyres tend to wear out easily. The winter tyres on the other hand are highly durable on ice but they reduce the gas mileage of your vehicle. Therefore, first identify your need and then choose the right kind of tyre to enhance your car’s performance.
