Just like the difference between the need and usage of summer and winter clothes, in case of cars and other vehicle tyres the difference is evident. With the change in seasons, we need to change the tyres of our cars to suit the road conditions. Like, when it is summer, the roads are hot and dry and for them the summer tyres are best. On the other hand, during winter, when the roads are covered with snow, then the winter tyres come in handy. However, to retain the good condition of the tyres there are certain safety measures and storing guidelines needs to be followed for both the tyres.

Specific tyre covers for winter tyres
Let us start with the winter tyres. You should always store the tyres in specific tyre covers to keep them in good condition. When it comes to storing, choose a cool and dry place to store them, like basements or garages. You can stack the tyres flat on their sides but not more than four tyres high to avoid tipping over on the ground. You also need to check the tyre pressure when it comes to remounting it.

Summer tyres need an extra amount of care and storing conditions as they get damage easily due to oxidation, UV rays, natural ageing and ozone damage. You need to clean the tyre thoroughly before storing them by using water and soap. Brushing is a good option to clean the tyre of any dirt, grime and other components. After cleaning, store each tyre in an airtight bag to save them from condensation, ozone and direct sunlight. You can also use plastic garbage bags as a storing material by fastening the opening, making it airtight. Store the tyre in a cool and dark place away from sunlight. A well-ventilated basement is a good option for storing the tyres as hot and warm place can cause serious damage to your tyres. Also keep in mind to store the tyres away from any kind of electrical devices like, furnaces, motors, sump pumps etc, as they are all different sources of ozone.

Just like winter tyres, store the summer tyres on a vertical way and place then on wooden surface to avoid contact with any kind of oil or grease. As long as you follow the above guidelines, you will enjoy higher performance and durability from both winter tyres and summer tyres.
