Further education is not only for the very young, but also for those who wish to pick up new knowledge or enhance their existing abilities. Plymouth has the answer for those wishing to pick up a new skill or hone in an old one. The short courses such as those offered at the Plymouth College of Art are ideal, geared to cater to those working or wanting to gain extra knowledge.

The part time evening courses are specially designed to accommodate busy working hours, giving people the opportunity to get creative and give into their desires to study a subject they may not have had an opportunity to do so before. When we are undergrads we tend to focus our study on more practical subjects that we believe will help us with our future. Or else we study the subject that is closest to our hearts, our passion. This does not mean though that we do not have other interests; it is just that those interests have had to take a back step.

Now thanks to the short courses, we can give into our latent desires and study a subject of our dreams. There are so many to choose from and their short stints allow us to choice from more than ...
... one subject if we so wish. Usually, courses are divided into three categories: beginners, intermediary and advanced. There are the literature courses on creative writing, fact or fiction, poetry writing to screen writing. There are the skilled courses such as hot glass, experimental glass, hot metals and ceramics just to mention a few. Artists can brush up on their skills with courses on still life drawing or portrait painting etc. Courses on Adobe Photoshop are available which is a basic must have skill these days, along with techniques in photography.

Studying is never a waste no matter what your age or occupation. Even if you are not planning on any dramatic life changing career moves, you as a person will be enriched by whatever you study. Humans need constant stimulation in order for our brains to function at their best. New knowledge always gets the creative juices flowing and helps us to perform even better as innovative ideas come into being. You will find that gaining new skills helps you better perform in your daily life as your new knowledge intermingles with the old. To get a better idea of short courses on offer and select something of interest to you browse “Plymouth Art”.
