People would like to keep their lawns should for their lawn care plans because it can reduce the amount of time between lawn mowing sessions. This might sound good because of the tough work that comes from mowing a lawn and from the fact that gas prices for fueling up lawn mowers aren’t getting any cheaper.

However, it is not a good lawn care idea to mow a lawn at a short height. Here are a few of the reasons why this is the case.

A lawn that is very short will not have a very dense build to it. This means that the lawn will not feature the same healthy blades of grass that it should already be coming with. This could influence the lawn in a negative manner to the point where roots can become weak. The weaker roots will cause the lawn to feel slim and will make it so it will not be protected from weeds. In other words, a shorter lawn is more susceptible to weeds.

There is also the concern about the root system when the lawn is being cut down. The problem with mowing a lawn at a short height is that it can cause the roots on a lawn to be damaged. These damages can come from the rough actions that the blades ...
... on a mower can go through. These actions will cause a lawn to be damaged if it is cut too short.

There is also the concern about how the lawn can be more susceptible to flooding in the event that it rains not long after the lawn is mowed incredibly short. The lawn bed will be exposed to the point where it could cause roots to drown. This is a rough problem but it is a serious one simply because it can involve damages that will cause large spots on a lawn to dry out and die out as a result.

Therefore, it may help to raise the height on a mower to a more appropriate level. A good thing to do is to measure the height of a mower with regards to the height of the grass. The mower should be taller up over at least one third of the height of a blade of grass in the area. This should be used to help keep the lawn healthy as it is being mowed.

Remember, mowing the lawn short might sound convenient but it will only do more harm to a lawn if this happens. The damage to the lawn could come form how the lawn will be more susceptible to weeds and floods along with the stresses that come from the mower’s blade being as close to the bed as it is.
