Sometimes when you wake up in the morning you could remember your dreams clearly but sometimes you can’t. Do you know why? There are five stages during our sleep, you can remember your dreams or not depend on which stage you are in when you weak up in the morning.
When you fall asleep during the night, you will cycle these five stages 4 times to 6 times each night. And dreams are always occur in one of the five stages.
When you fall asleep at the beginning of sleep cycle, this period is stage one. People also called it light sleep. During this transition phase, you might feel yourself drifting off. It means this period can be considered as a transition period between wakefulness and sleep. If your friend awakens you when you sleep in stage one you can be easily woken up because you feel you are not really sleep. It just costs your almost ten minutes.
Some people called stage 2 are still light sleep. Your brain activity starts to slow down, as well as your heart rate and breathing, and it may lasts for approximately 20 minutes. During this stage, eye movement stops and your brain waves become slower. ...
... Your body temperatures fall a little and you're beginning to reach a state of total relaxation in preparation for the deeper sleep to come.
When you enter a deep sleep, it means the stage 3 is coming. The brain waves are a combination of slow waves, known as delta waves. During stage 3 sleep it can be very difficult to wake someone up. If you were to get awakened suddenly during this stage, you would be groggy and confused, and find it difficult to focus at first.
The second stage of deep sleep is stage 4. This is the one when you experience your deepest sleep of the night, so it is also very difficult to wake someone up. Your brain only shows delta-wave activity. Both stages of deep sleep are important for feeling refreshed in the morning. If these stages are too short, sleep will not feel satisfying.
The last stage is your dream occurs, known as rapid eye movement. When you enter into REM sleep, your breathing becomes fast, irregular and shallow. Your eyes will move rapidly and your muscles become immobile. Dreaming occurs due because of increased brain activity, but voluntary muscles become paralyzed.
