Uncle Mo worked a five furlong bullet drill on Sunday morning in 1:00.34 seconds as he continued to prepare for a possible start in the King’s Bishop on August 27th, one of the most prestigious sprint races of the year for three year olds. He worked in company with stable mate Turbo Compressor.
His regular mount John Velasquez was on board for the work, which occurred at about 6AM. He finished about a length in front of Turbo Compressor, who is a good horse himself, having won the Grade 3 Curlin at Saratoga most recently.
He ran the first quarter in 24.20, and passed three furlongs in 35.80, galloping out six furlongs in 1:14 seconds over the fast track. His work was the fastest of 37 works that morning at the distance.
Uncle Mo was originally going to have his workout on Monday, but due to the potential for rain, he decided to move the work up to Sunday.
His trainer Todd Pletcher said that he is back in racing mode now and more like the Uncle Mo we knew as a champion. He says that he is perfectly healthy, his attitude is good, and that he accomplished the work while never exerting himself too much. ...
... Pletcher is very optimistic and excited about where he is at the moment.
His first career race was here at Saratoga, where he ran a monster race, and there is every reason to think that he will perform well over this track.
If Uncle Mo can win this race, he has a chance to reclaim his spot at the top of the three year old division.
Uncle Mo will probably be the betting favorite, which could be a risky bet, not knowing which Uncle Mo will show up. If you’re going to get Uncle Mo in the King’s Bishop, you might want toconsider one of the exotic bets like exacta wagering and trifecta wagering, hoping to find some long-shots to fill out your wagering tickets.
Summary:
The much awaited comeback is here. Uncle Mo has recuperated from his Gastro illnesses and is now looking good for the King’s Bishop Grade 1 returning race. His workouts recording a fastest out of 37 works on Sunday for a six furlong distance. Jockey Velasquez and trainer Pletcher are hopeful that the champion will sure turn up, so the bettors can now try the exotic bets to test their chances on their all time favorite for the season, Uncle Mo.
