The term telephone includes all three kinds of devices cordless, wired and mobile. The hearing aids and telephones can be attached with each other in two ways. Either by connecting the microphone of the hearing aid with the speaker of the phone device or by connecting telecoil, a loop of wire within the hearing aid with the phone’s speaker. The microphone used in the hearing aids is omnidirectional which means it can amplify sounds coming from all directions with equal precision. This enables the wearer to catch all the sounds approaching from different directions. This, in turn, improves the ratio of signal to noise which further improves clarity and understanding of speech in sounds.
