Ford Faces A Recall Issue Involving About 1.1 Million Trucks Including Ford F-150s
Ford Motors Corporation has currently issued a recall order involving more than 1 million trucks including the US top-selling Ford F-150 due to the problems on each truck’s fuel-tank straps.
This recall order was brought about by a number of negative incidents blamed on the fuel-tank’s straps that are prone to corrosion. These incidents included three fire-related cases and an injury. These fire-related cases and injury was also confirmed by Wesley Sherwood who is the spokesperson of Ford in an email.
Due to this, the company has finally implemented its recall order. This decision then prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to announce Ford’s intention of recalling all of the vehicles affected by the problem on the fuel-tank straps and make way for their dealerships who are selling these trucks to car finders either on cash basis or through auto financing to fix the straps.
Aside from the reported incidents and rising number of complaints faced by Ford, the recall was also triggered by some ...
... of the findings of a study conducted last year by the auto regulators in the US.
The study that is conducted even up to this time on 21 different states including the District of Columbia suggests that the chemicals used for the de-icing roads during cold weather could cause the metal straps to corrode and prevent these from providing its primary purpose.
With regards to the scope of the recall, Ford has identified that the vehicles affected are composed mainly of older truck versions with higher mileage. This is because these are vehicles that were produced with metal straps on their fuel-tanks.
These affected vehicles are composed of F-150s that were produced in the 1997 to 2004, F-250s produced in the year 1997 to 1999, and the Lincoln Blackwoods that were produced and sold to new car finders in 2002 to 2004
The recall order was only issued lately since the corrosion on the straps has just appeared recently after these were exposed to the de-icing chemicals that are used in most roads.
For further assistance, Ford offers free repairs for vehicles that are affected with this problem. The company will just notify the owners of affected vehicles in the middle part of September and provide them with specific instructions on what they should do.
