Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors recently announced that each of them earned significant sales increases for the month of July this year compared to their sales in July 2010.

These subsequent increases were probably triggered by the rise in demand from car finders who are in search for crossovers and big trucks that they could purchase or finance through the available auto financing deals offered by car dealerships and lenders.

Chrysler reported that its sales for July this year has increased by 20%. According to them, the 20% increase was brought about by the 46% increase on the delivery of Jeeps all over the US as well as the excellent performance of some of its new range models. A lot of new car finders opted to buy these models which eventually resulted to Chrysler’s sales increase.

Just like Chrysler, Ford also obtained a significant increase in sales. Covering the number of units sold and delivered for July of this year, Ford earned a total increase of 6%. This ...
... was brought about by the company’s light truck sales improvement of about 12% and 3% on the car sales.

GM on the other hand obtained 8% sales increase. This was caused by the 8% improvement of its passenger car sales. In addition to this, their deliveries of crossovers rose by 20% which eventually resulted to the overall sales increase of 8%.

Given these figures, it is quite obvious that the Detroit’s big 3 has benefitted from the building up of buyers’ preference on light trucks and SUVs. Due to this, analysts have recently readjusted their annual forecasts of about 12.5 million units of vehicles sold for this year to about13.5 million units.

However, these current figures might still go down since a lot of factors and conditions that analysts have anticipated to challenge the progress that the Detroit’s big 3 are enjoying. Among the most significant challenges that might slow down the increase in sales are the continuous increase on the prices of fuel and the unstable economic conditions in the US.

But car makers are still optimistic that the second quarter of this year would become a good start for the US automotive industry and this belief is further strengthened by the fact that most Japanese car makers are starting to recover from the ill-effects of the March 11 earthquake which struck them by surprise.
