Best Pre-workout Supplement
If you’re already doing the work, you’ll want to get the most out of that time spent at the gym. The best pre-workout supplements, then, will improve one’s performance at the gym. The best pre workout supplements, ideally, will help a body builder workout longer, at higher weights and recuperate faster. Pre-workout supplements should give one more energy, and make one feel less fatigued so they don’t tire out to quickly. The best pre-workout supplements should also replenish the nutrients and compounds expended during a rigorous workout routine, or that the body will need to rebuild and repair stressed muscles.
For energy, one of the best pre-workout supplements is nitric oxide. Nitric oxide increases blood flow, and thus provides the muscles more oxygen, which is the fuel it burns during workouts. By providing more blood to the muscles, nitric oxide also gives the muscles more of the stuff it will need to add muscle mass. Because muscle mass is increased by stressing the muscles, and then repairing them by laying down more of the striated, fibrous tissue, the body will need more of the building blocks of that ...
... tissue. With muscle, that means protein. So the best pre-workout supplements will have protein, or amino acids, the compounds that the protein is broken down into by the body.
The organic acid creatin is also good for short energy bursts.
Meal Replacement Products, or MCPs, tend to come in the form of bars or powders. The best pre-workout supplement would probably be the powder or mix for smoothies and shakes. What makes these such good pre-workout supplements is the fact that shakes and smoothies are easily digestible, and can be absorbed by the body as quickly as they are needed. It’s also a good idea to have some post-workout, as the body starts to heal.
The most common tend to be the Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA’s) because those are the most needed for muscle repair. The Branched Chain Amino Acids are valine, isoleucine and leucine. BCAA’s also happen to be “essential amino acids,” meaning they aren’t produced by the body. So, the only way for the body to get BCAA’s is through diet, and a normal diet – even a healthy one – does not account for the huge amount of energy and nutrients needed when engaged in an intensive body building routine or muscle building regimen.
Pre-workout supplements should help the body builder work past those plateaus we all experience, when our progress seems to have hit ceiling. The right supplement should help break through, and reach the next level. They should also improve focus. You can get more out of less reps if they have better form. Getting the proper form requires concentration. And of course, everyone wants something that’s going to give the most gain.
Also worth considering, however, is cost and taste. More expensive isn’t necessarily better, and the best shake doesn’t do much good if we can’t keep it down because it tastes like crap. And there’s no reason to pay more if a cheaper pre workout supplement is just as good.
