Garages are not only used to provide protection to vehicles such as cars, bike, trucks, etc. from thieves but also to protect them from environmental damages that can be caused by rain, sun light, etc. A garage without door is unsafe for thieves can have easy access in its absence; thus, garage doors have crucial role in any kind of garage. Generally, garage doors are made using strong woods or metal sheets so that these are not easily breakable. Whereas some garage doors are custom-made, rest others are made by the companies that have specialization in making tough garage doors.

An important invention in the history of garage doors was automatic garage door opener which helped vehicle owners a lot; now, they do not need to open garage door manually every time they park their vehicle or drive out the same. Thus, created in 1926, the first electric garage door opener which was a brainchild of C.G. Johnson revolutionized the concept of garage and garage doors. The electric garage door not only made parking of the vehicle easy but also gave protection to the parked vehicles as these doors.

Once it is activated through a switch or a remote control, it can be opened or closed accordingly.

Moreover, the belt drive opener is strong and durable and quiet and for these reasons it is preferred despite the fact that it is hell lot of expensive.

Another important type is Screw Drive garage door opener which is an automatic garage door opener operated by a motor. User needs to lift the door with the help of a threaded steel rod that is moved by the motor. Striking feature in such garage door openers is that there are no chains or belts installed.
