Passat Production In The Us Ramps-up
VW is currently ramping-up the production rate of its Chattanooga, Tennessee facility to prepare for the anticipated launching of the new version of its Passat this fall.
This could be a good move for the German car makers since the successful launching of its re-designed Jetta has gained more demands new car finders might also be the situation that its Passat would be experiencing.
The ramping-up of the Chattanooga Plant in Tennessee is not only intended to increase the production of the Passat but will also focus on ensuring the quality of the each vehicle assembled that will eventually be offered to car finders together with some of the applicable auto loans that VW would provide.
In addition to this, the ramping-up will ensure that everything would be smooth sailing by the time the new Passat is launched. This particular need was also recognized by VW’s CEO Frank Fischer.
According to Fischer (2011) “You have to get all the processes going” and even ...
... continued by saying “Everybody has to understand their tasks. You have things where people are trained, but still make a mistake then you have to recover from that.”
With this statement, it is quite clear that the recent condition of the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee was also a result of the mandate from VW’s highest officials and this simply means that the Passat launch means so much to them.
As of the present, the Chattanooga plant produces around 100 vehicles each day. Its daily production could actually exceed this average such as last Friday when the number of vehicles produced reached 140 but as much as possible the plant maintains the 100 mark.
However, with upcoming launch of the Passat this daily rate would possibly be increased to around 460 units per day. This production rate could further be extended since VW is quite sure that their facility is still capable of doing this.
Given all of these preparations, it is quite possible that VW would be able to accommodate the demands for the Passat in the future. If this would be the case after the Passat’s launch, there is no doubt that VW will surely earn a significant boost on their sales and profits in the US.
