Consumer Reports subjected eight of the 2011 vehicle models produced by Chrysler Group to evaluation. These evaluations aim to provide the appropriate rating for each model evaluated in terms of internal fit and finish, performance, and handling features. These tests are very important since the characteristics of each vehicle model are among the many aspects that new car finders focus on when searching for cars that they could buy either on a cash basis or by using the auto financing options available.

The evaluation revealed eventually revealed that most of the vehicles subjected to test have incurred an improved mark which is good news for Chrysler. However, Consumer Reports stated that these improvements are lagging behind the improvements found in other vehicles produced by Chrysler’s closest rival. Despite these observations, the results were somehow satisfactory on the part of Chrysler.

The Durango which is one of the group’s popular SUV powered by a V6 or V8 engine earned a “very ...
... good mark” after the magazine has subjected this to a road test. The Durango’s rating placed this model comparable to the redesigned version of the 2011 Ford Explorer. However, this rating is considered as inferior when compared to what the Toyota Highlander and the Chevrolet Traverse have obtained in the crossover and mid-size SUV division.

Aside from this, Chrysler’s Charger Rallye has also earned a “very good” rating from Consumer Reports’ road testing. This rating has placed the Rallye closer to the Buick LaCrosse and Ford Taurus in the large sedan class.

Consumer Reports on the other hand has found that the 2011 version of the Ram truck still remains unchanged. This simply means that the Ram Truck has never earned any improvement when compared to the previous evaluation conducted by the magazine.

Given these findings, Consumer Reports’ Auto Test Center’s Senior Director David Champion stated that Chrysler is going through the right path in trying to improve some of the features of its vehicles. However, Champion perceives that the company has a long way to go before they could match the improvements that some of its competitors have obtained. As soon as they earned the needed improvements, this could also mean better chances for car finders to purchase improved Chrysler-made cars.
