Most car experts and buyer expect that BMW would be building the Mini Rocketman and produce this model before the year ends. This is because the company presented concept car of this particular model at the Geneva auto show that was conducted last March and this made new car finders to believe that the Rocketman would be available in the market by 2011. In addition to this, the concept car’s debut in the Geneva auto show teased car finders who are in search for smaller vehicles as well as the auto financing deals offered for the Mini Rocketman.

However, BMW as of the present is actually having a second thought on whether they would be producing the Mini Rocketman due to a lot of reasons. One of the most significant reasons for this is that the company’s top executives are not convinced that this model would earn greater demands from consumers. These executives’ beliefs were basically influenced by their negative views on the Smart ForTwo’s sales.

Aside ...
... from this, BMW considers the Rocketman’s production cost as one of the issues that prevents them from resuming its mass-production. The company would surely spend a significant amount of capital to assemble a single unit of the Mini Rocketman only to be sold in a price that is cheaper than the standard Mini. BMW would surely incur possible losses due to this set-up so they decided not to start producing the Rocketman.

Besides the cost of production and the uncertainty as to whether the Mini Rocketman would become very in-demand or not, there is another reason why they failed to build even a single unit of this. This is because the company currently has no specific plant that would accommodate the Rocketman’s production. In addition to this, their assembling plant in Oxford lacks the needed free capacity to produce the Rocketman.

Given all of these reasons, it is quite impossible for BMW to produce the Mini Rocketman and offer all of these on the market for sale. Due to this, car buyers who want to own smaller cars should either stick on the idea of purchasing the standard Mini or the Smart’s ForTwo.
