Is Being Intelligent A Blessing Or Something Achieved?

There is much talk of intelligence. A few people think you can't be intelligent unless you are born with it but I have started to have my doubts about this. Recently, I was told a organization called NXIVM, founded by Keith Raniere, is hosting intelligence training through a program called Executive Success Programs. The program is usually called something different but its priority is to educate people on tools to make more sound decisions.

What's intelligence? Principal education was measured on a scale on how well a child ranked on test scores when I was in school. The pupils that got good grades were deemed intelligent by their peers. This was called to as "book smarts."

Many successful people are people who are considered smart. I think that intelligence is decided by how a person has applied different events in his life to what he knows is reasonable in a current situation.

How does one differentiate in the sense that he is a "professional" as opposed to a high school student with good grades? I think it's how well a person is able to apply skills and knowledge that he has acquired. ...
... There are particular things that an educated person will possess and these include: knowledge, problem solving abilities and understanding content. Where previous experiences come into play is how they are applied to a persons current way of living. Success is something that relies on how many things you apply to the way you live with past experiences and knowledge that you have accumulated over time.

Are people born with intelligence, or can it be learned? Because many children are raised to think that the smart people in class with high scores are intelligent, it is something they are born with. Being smart due to high scores in high school is a thing of the past due to the simple fact that many intelligent, successful people didn't get good grades in high school. You can't score these people based on their scores from school because they have overwhelmed these assessments of to become even more successful as adults.

Many people that have attained a high level of success in the past will probably do it again. That explains the intelligence aspect. If we learn and earn something, then you have found the true secret to being an intelligent individual. The brain is where most of our powers are. By utilizing things that you have learned, you are making a path for a bright future.
