Iihs’ Driver Death Rates’ Highlights

The number of vehicular accidents all throughout the US continues to increase. This is despite the fact that most car makers have been using some of the most advanced technologies to improve their vehicles’ safety features. Due to this, a lot of agencies are doing their best to help car makers in producing safer vehicles. What these agencies usually do is subject new vehicle models crash tests and other studies to ensure that these would be able to provide the needed security that almost every new car finder wants to attain.

This is the reason why agencies such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety provides useful advice to car finders they purchase their vehicles either in straight cash or by using some of the auto financing deals offered by lenders and dealerships. Aside from this, the IIHS also provides a detailed report of the death rates caused by vehicular accidents. Just recently, the IIHS released its latest rates and this has revealed the following.

1. Nissan and Chevy Vehicles ...
... grabbed the highest death rate record

The recent study conducted by the IIHS showed that the Nissan 350Z obtained the highest death rate of all the vehicles included on the study. This model has a total of 143 deaths per million all throughout its registered years. This was followed by the Nissan Titan with 126 deaths. The third spot is occupied by the Chevy Aveo with 119 deaths while the Chevy Cobalt occupies the next spot with 117 deaths.

2. Minivans are the safest vehicles

Minivans on the other hand emerged as the safest vehicle type according to the IIHS report. In terms of death rates, the minivans earned an average rate of 25. This vehicle group is led by the Toyota Sienna with a zero rating while the Dodge Grand Caravan emerged on the last rank with a 63 rating.

3. SUVs ratings has improved

The overall ratings obtained by SUVs proved that this vehicle type has greatly improved since the previous study was conducted. SUVs as of the present ranked as the second safest vehicles of the road. This sudden transformation was believed to be the result of these vehicles’ use of electronic stability control systems.
