Gm Continues To Upgrade Its Transmission Plant In Indiana

General Motors has previously announced that they are planning to invest a total of $890 million for the upgrading procedures of its transmission and engine plants in the US. This plan is intended to intensify the company’s efficiency of producing both the expensive and cheap new car models as well as other types of vehicles that they intend to release on the market. One of the probable beneficiaries of this increased investment is the company’s transmission plant located at Bedford Indiana.

GMs recently provided a detailed update about its increased investments and this revealed that $49 million will directly go to the upgrading of the transmission plant in Indiana. With this amount, the Indiana plant would be able to purchase new equipments and tools to increase its efficiency in producing the newest 8-speed automatic transmission that GM intends to use in the future as well as the development of small engines that would be utilized the company’s future vehicles.

... or creating 91 additional jobs. This is very important since the Bedford, Indiana plant currently holds about 450 salaried and hourly-paid employees. These employees are the force behind the facilities impressive output and they also assure that all of the undertakings of this plant is pushed through.

The move towards intensifying the production of eight-speed transmissions by General Motors was basically driven by its goal of providing more fuel-efficient vehicles to its consumers in the coming years. This is the same through with the production of smaller engines.

More car experts believe that GM would be producing 1.0 to 1.5liter engines for its vehicles in the future particularly the models that are included on the company’s small 4-cylinder segment. As soon as GM would be able to maximize the use of these smaller engines, they will be able to provide vehicles that consume lesser amounts of fuel and this could encourage more buyers to purchase the models that they are producing.

Given this, car finders could possibly expect better and more reliable vehicles from GM. However, GM must also make sure that they could offer the most appropriate auto loans for their upcoming vehicles so as to ensure that these would be patronized by potential customers.
