Do You Really Know What Human Rights Are
Every person has inherent dignity and value. Human rights help us to recognize and respect that fundamental worth in ourselves and in each other. The protection of fundamental human rights was a foundation stone in the establishment of the United States over 200 years ago. Law students talk about Guantanamo in class. African studies courses explore ethnic conflict and genocide in Sudan. Psychologists debate the role of their colleagues in devising interrogation methods. All these involve with human rights.
Human rights are held by all persons equally, universally, and forever, existing in morality and in law at the national and international levels. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. They are addressed primarily to governments, requiring compliance and enforcement. International human rights law lays down obligations of Governments to act in certain ways or to refrain from certain acts, in order to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals or groups.
Human rights are both inspirational and practical. The principle ...
... of universality of human rights is the cornerstone of international human rights law. Human rights have become increasingly important as a moral compass to help negotiate differences in this flat world. Understanding human rights is an essential component of global competency. Human rights are numerous (several dozen) rather than few.
Although we usually take these actions for granted, people both here and in other countries do not enjoy all these liberties equally. For all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for your deserve rights and freedoms. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is established as your strong guard.
Man is simply an animal, so that his rights are just those of an animal. Personal freedom depends a lot on his individual place in the modern society. Another fundamental question raised in the relationship between man and the State, between the individual and law. Human rights entail both rights and obligations. States assume obligations and duties under international law to respect, to protect and to fulfill human rights. Human rights are more widely accepted than they have ever been. They have become part of the currency of international relations, and most countries participate in the human rights system.
Try to know more about your rights and obligations, at the individual level, while we are entitled our human rights, we should also respect the human rights of others.
