General Motors has recently reached its final decision to place the production of its Cadillac DTS to a halt. As a result, the company began looking for a worthy replacement for the Cadillac DTS. The search was accomplished carefully since the DTS has previously outsold some of its closest competitors such as the Mercedes Benz S-Class, Lincoln Town car and the Lexus LS 430 since the failure on the selection process could create negative effects for GM most especially when car finders who are quite familiar of the discontinued model’s specs are not impressed of the replacement’s features. In addition to this, GM should also be able to offer the best auto financing deals for the replacement to ensure that this would take the path that the DTS has taken.

... hints as to which model would replace the popular Cadillac DTS. These hints are pointing out towards the XTS which was first previewed at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show as a concept car for the Cadillac XTS Platinum.

As it is believed to be the worthy replacement for the Cadillac DTS, there are hints that this particular model would be a front-wheel drive vehicle that will also use the architecture found on the Buick LaCrosse. As soon as some of the specs for this model are finalized, it will be scheduled for production on one of GM’s assembling plants in the US and this would soon be released as a vehicle with a 2012 model year.

The cancellation of the production of the Cadillac DTS, GM is now left with only two Cadillac cars on the line-up which is the CTS and the STS. Due to this, there is a great need for the company to make sure that the chosen model that would take the place of the DTS would be impressive since the former model has been very popular and buyers expects more from its substitute.
