Mercedes Benz would be releasing a new roadster model on the market this year and this would be the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. The roadster’s specs will supposedly be revealed upon this supercar’s debut on the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. However, Mercedes Benz has started releasing a lot of photos and information about this roadster to tease more Benz car finders. In addition to this, the car maker has been giving hints about the possible auto financing options offered for this vehicle. Some of the features Mercedes Benz has released to tease every new car finder are the following.

1. Trunk space

The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster will have a trunk area with a capacity of about 6.1 cubic feet. This space is not affected by the closing and opening of the vehicle’s soft top made of a three-layered fabric. This simply means that the soft top of the roadster will not eat the space intended for cargoes.

In addition to this, the top is fully automatic and this opens and closes in just eleven seconds. The good thing about this top is that it can open even when the car is running at a speed of up to 31 miles per hour.

3. Under the hood

The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster is powered by an engine used to propel the coupe version. Its engine would be the AMG 6.3liter V8. This is mounted just behind the roadster’s front axle. This is mated to a dual-clutch and seven-speed transmission which is responsible for driving the vehicle’s wheels on the rear.

The vehicle’s V8 engine is capable of delivering a maximum speed output of about 563 horsepower and a torque estimated to be around 479 ft-lb in North American specifications. In the European specifications, these figures could be translated into 571 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.

4. Other features

The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster is equipped with Mercedes’ AIRSCARF system that warms its passengers. The warming mechanism warms the areas of the neck and head of the passengers.
