Gm Cancels The Production Of Cadillac Srx Plug-in
General Motors continues to develop vehicles that are powered by electric motors so as to allow car buyers and vehicle owners to maximize their savings from lesser fuel expenses. This situation is also true when it comes to other brands produced by GMs such as the Chevrolet and Cadillac. Due to this, a lot of hybrid car finders are focusing their attention on cars which run on alternative power source that the company would be releasing as well as the auto financing options offered for each of this. However, producing hybrid cars and SUVs is very expensive since this requires more sophisticated components.
The rising cost of commodities used in making plug-ins was also the reason why General Motors has recently suspended the production of the Cadillac SRX plug-in. The order was to temporarily stop the production of this crossover but there was no definite date or plan about its resumption. This simply means that GM might resume the project involving this vehicle as soon as the costs of its components and parts turn out to be ...
... affordable.
GM plans to use the plug-in hybrid system of the Chevrolet Volt for the Cadillac SRX plug-in. This was supposedly one of the best ways to test the hybrid system used on the Volt on a larger and more luxurious crossover from Cadillac. In addition to this, the SRX would also be using the next generation of the Theta platform. However, this crossover currently needs to wait until the company decides to continue its production.
This was the actually the third time that the production of the Cadillac SRX plug-in was suspended. The first of these happened when GM tried to develop the hybrid system for the Saturn Vue. However, the development of this system was placed to halt when the Saturn brand was shuttered. GM tried to move on with this particular plan using the Buick but was eventually cancelled.
This event can be considered as one of the company’s strategy to reduce its operating expenses instead of continuing its production that could force them to raise the prices of their vehicles again since an additional price hike could discourage new car finders from purchasing GM-made vehicles.
