In the midst of rising oil prices and issues regarding the harsh effects of greenhouse gases emissions from conventional gas-powered cars, the use of vehicles that does not rely on fuel alone intensifies. This was probably the reason why more and more car finders are looking for cars that are powered by other energy sources. As a matter of fact, almost all new car finder websites includes hybrid cars on their list of vehicles for sale. Due to this need, the US government under the Obama administration has came up with a plan to create its own fleet of electric vehicles for several government agencies to lease.

The plan aims to purchase electronic and hybrid vehicles that would be used by government offices to encourage every car finder in the US to buy their own. In addition to this, the Obama administration would be using this plan to reduce the US dependence on oil imported abroad and invest on the country’s growing economy for clean energy. This plan is quite rational since the federal government is considered as the country’s ...
... largest fleet operator.

As a quick start, the federal government would be buying 116 units of electric vehicles. The collection would include 101 Chevrolet Volt, 10 Nissan Leaf, and 5 units of Think City. This will just be the first instalment of the government’s plan to purchase more vehicles powered by engines using alternative fuel and even alternative power source such electric motors used in most hybrid vehicles. The Obama administration hopes to place 1 million EVs on the road by 2015.

Apart from purchasing vehicles that use alternative fuels and electricity, the government would also be helping on the establishment of charging facilities in federal buildings located on 5 key cities in the country.

With the upcoming purchase of the 116 EVs for the federal fleet that would be managed by the General Services Agency, this would allow the federal government to save on oil consumption and greenhouse gases emissions. Due to this, the GSA urges some of the car makers in the US to offer the best auto financing deals for car buyers who would want to obtain hybrid vehicles and those that use alternative fuels.
