Tennis is one of the sports that bring players from all around the world together to test their talents. While there are some countries in which tennis is more popular than others, the tournaments span the globe and attract people from many different countries.

One of the most popular tournaments in the world is Wimbledon. Wimbledon is considered to be a Grand Slam Tournament. There are four Grand Slam Tournaments, but Wimbledon may be the most prestigious of the tournaments.

The 90th Wimbledon Championships were played in 1976. The tournament takes place in London, England in the United Kingdom.

The most prestigious event to win at Wimbledon is without doubt the Men’s singles tournament. This tournament features the most speed, power and skill of any of the tournaments that take place at Wimbledon. The next most popular event is the Women’s singles event. From here there are events such as Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles and mixed doubles in the seniors section. These events are exciting to win and may be the highlight of a career for some players. In the end, the singles tournaments are more prestigious, ...
... however.

There are two other tournaments in the event, the Boys’ singles and the Girls’ singles tournaments. These tournaments are under the Juniors section of Wimbledon and they often feature the up and coming players in the tennis world.

The Men’s tournament came down to Bjorn Borg and Illie Nastase. These players had a solid final match in the tournament. Borg took the first two sets with relative ease, winning 6-4, 6-2, but after that Nastase wouldn’t let go. They had to go to tiebreaker points before Borg took the victory with a 9-7 set win.

The Women’s singles event came down to two very prominent names: Chris Evert and Evonne Goolagoong Cawley. These players had one of the great final matchups in Wimbledon history. Evert started off ahead, winning the first set 6-3. Goolagong Cawley came back with a 6-4 win in the 2nd set to force a 3rd set in the finals. The 3rd set went to tiebreaker points as neither player could put away their opponent. Evert eventually came out on top with an 8-6 victory over Goolagong Cawley.

The Men’s doubles tournament final featured Brian Gottfriend and Raul Ramirez against Ross Case and Geoff Masters. Masters and Case started off ahead, winning 6-3 in the first set. Gottfried and Ramirez stormed back to win two sets in a row by scores of 6-3 and 8-6. Case and Masters managed to regain momentum in the next set, evening the match with a 6-2 set victory. The final set was another great one, but Gottfried and Ramirez came out on top 7-5.

Evert was the champion of the tournament as she managed to win the Women’s singles, and she also won the Women’s doubles tournament with Martina Navratilova at her side. They took out Billie Jean King and Betty Stove in 3 sets.

The Mixed doubles event was won by Francoise Durr and Tony Roche. The Juniors tournaments were won by Heinz Gunthardt and Natasha Chmyreva.
