People always want to get the most benefits for the lowest amount of money possible. Of course, there are exceptions when the aim is simply showing how expensive a thing is, but this doesn't refer to the public at large. Especially right now after the recession has hit millions of households and people are looking for ways to reduce their living costs just to keep them within their smaller budgets. And quite often healthcare coverage seems like a very attractive domain for exercising money saving strategies, since a lot of consumers believe that they are paying too much for having their health covered under a plan. As a result many families get under-insured and risk facing serious out of pocket expenses along with their ordinary coverage simply because they wanted their policy to be cheaper. Not the best solution, if you want to keep all your expenses within limits, right? Well, there is a type of health coverage plans that may provide you with all the coverage you need for a reasonable price!

We're talking about group health plans. Under a group plan you make part of a collective that share the same set of services ...
... and usually have higher coverage than individual policies. Group plans are particularly popular in larger companies and corporations, often being used as an attractive feature for the employee. Sure, having nearly all your premiums covered by your employer and receiving all the services you need is a nice feat to get with your salary. So what are the main features and benefits you get with a group health insurance plan? Here they are:

1. Group plans are usually much cheaper than individual plans. Moreover, a lot of companies that offer their workers with such plans tend to pay for a part or the entire premium, making insurance even cheaper for the employee.

2. Group plans usually carry a standard set of services that are covered including doctor visits, regular checks, lab tests and other routine healthcare services that most workers usually require. This saves you a lot of effort that you would typically put into tailoring your individual policy.

3. Some group plans also allow your spouse and kids to be included to the coverage as well. That's a great way to have your entire family covered without spending too much money on it.

4. Group plans offered by specific organizations may be specifically tailored to meet the needs of certain group of people. For example, if you have joint condition you may benefit from better coverage and cheap health insurance by joining a group plan with other people with the same problems

Of course, there are downsides to this type of insurance too. The main negative aspect of group plans is the lack of flexibility individual plans have. If you have pre-existing conditions or special healthcare services required on a regular basis your group plan may not provide this, unlike an individual plan that allows you to choose what's more important and what's not. Nevertheless, if you have a good health and need cheap health insurance to get covered properly with a group plan it's much easier to get it all.
