Five Precautions You Need To Take In The Course Of Diy Lawn Pest Control
There are two ways in which you can get lawn pest control done. The first of those would be by hiring one of the specialized pest control firms, to do the work on your behalf. The second alternative, which is of particular interest to us in this discussion, would be that of doing the lawn pest control work by yourself. There are several circumstances in which you may opt for such DIY lawn pest control. That would be, for instance, when you don’t have enough money to get a pest control firm on site. It would also be the case when your lawn is too small to warrant the deployment of such specialists – hence the decision on your part to undertake the lawn pest control by yourself.
Now should you opt to do your own lawn pest control, there are several precautions you’d need to take, so that you don’t endanger your life, or the wellbeing of your grasses, in the course of the pest control agent application. We proceed to look at five such precautions you need to take, in the course of DIY lawn pest control.
1. Read instructions carefully, before embarking on chemical application: the biggest mistake you can make ...
... is that of launching headlong into the application of the chemicals, before taking your time to read the instructions on the packaging with which the chemicals came. This mistake is commonly committed by folks who have been doing pest control work for a long time, and who imagine that ‘they already know all there is to know about chemical application.’ The truth of the matter is that you should always read the instructions, and actually understand them, and keep them in mind, as you embark on their application.

2. Wear protective clothing before embarking on chemical application: most of the chemicals used in controlling pests are extremely potent substances. They are not the sorts of substances you want your skin to get into contact with, much less the sorts of substances you want to inhale. You should therefore ensure that you are in protective clothing when spraying them, even if it is very hot and such protective clothing feels uncomfortable. All said and done, your overall health is of much greater importance than short term comfort.
3. Ensure you use the right chemical for the right situation: using the wrong chemicals may end up, at the very least, leading to mediocre results. But in the worst case scenario, it can actually lead to harm on your grasses – as some pest control agents are not suitable for use on lawns.
4. Clean yourself thoroughly, after the pest control exercise: despite your best efforts at minimizing contact with the chemicals, chances are that some will end up getting on your skin. That creates the need for you to clean yourself thoroughly, after the exercise. This is about, at the very least, bathing with a lot of soap and running water.
5. Use the right equipment for the application of each type of chemical: you come to realize, for instance, that there are some chemicals meant for application by knapsack sprayer, and which can’t ideally be applied with a handheld sprayer. You will be safer if you follow the chemical manufacturers’ advice with respect to how the various chemicals should be applied.
