Exploring The Five Most Expensive Aspects Of Lawn Care
Lawn care can, at times, be a costly undertaking. This would be the case, regardless of whether one opts to do it on a DIY (Do It Yourself) or by contracting it to a specialist firm. The people who get to do their own lawn care also get to see and keep track of the costs as they arise. But the people who contract their lawn maintenance work to the specialist firms don’t really get to see the costs as they arise, especially in the arrangements where the lawn service firm charges you a consolidated fee for the project, and then undertakes everything on your behalf. This often leads people who contract such firms to feel as if they are being fleeced, when the work done on the ground doesn’t seem to be commensurate with the amounts charged. This is what often leads folks to pose the question as to how comes lawn care is so expensive. That is the question we will be trying to find possible answers to, as we explore the five most expensive aspects of lawn care. These are the areas where most of the money people pay to lawn care firms for lawn maintenance ends up being expended. They include:
1. Soil preparation: how expensive ...
... soil preparation turns out to be depends on the current state (and properties) of the soil. But whichever the case, money has to be expended here. In the worst case scenario, when the soil turns out to be that which can’t really sustain the proper growth of grasses, we are left with no alternative but to scrap it, carry it away, and replace it with another variety of soil. You can be sure that a good sum of money would have to change hands there, as folks are paid to do the scrapping and the transportation of the old soil, with other folks being paid to do the replacement of the soil. At this stage, the soil may also have to be subjected to chemical analysis, before being possibly treated… and money is expended every step of the way.
2. Pest control: this can be done either on a proactive (preventive) basis, or on a reactive (curative) basis. Either way, money has to be expended. Pest control is costly because besides the purchase of the chemicals, it is often necessary to hire people to actually do the chemical application/spraying work.
3. Weed control: whether this is done manually, mechanically or chemically, money has to change hands. It doesn’t help matters that it is not something you can do once and be done with: you have to keep on dealing with weeds as they sprout again.
4. Lawn fertilization: this can either be done using chemical fertilizers or through manures. Either way, money is spent buying the chosen fertilizer, and then in actually applying the fertilizer.
5. Lawn mowing: like weed control, lawn mowing is something you have to do over and over again, as need arises. It is not something you do once and get done with. Thus, while the individual lawn mowing bills may look small, the cumulative bill over a lawn’s lifetime can turn out to be quite a huge sum of money.
