If your time is expensive, and you could have used more meaningfully in 'higher value' activities, you know that you won't be doing yourself any favors by opting not to retain a lawn service firm.

Secondly, when you opt to care for your own lawn, you miss out on the valuable experience and expertise you would otherwise get from the professionals associated with the lawn care firm. Of course, if you are truly knowledgeable and experienced in these matters, this won't be much of a disadvantage. But if you are not competent or experienced, this decision to take care of the lawn by yourself could translate into lower standards of lawn care.
